EXCURSION No 2

“FOUNDATION OF BULGARIA”


Bulgaria was founded by khan Asparoukh in 681 in the city of Pliska - the first bulgarian capital. 200 years later Veliki Preslav (Great Preslav) became the second capital of the Bulgarian Kingdom. And in 1185 tsar Ivan Assen II choose the city of Turnovo to become the capital of Bulgaria. This period is known in the history as the foundation of the Bulgarian state and the itinerary of our programme "FOUNDATION OF THE BULGARIAN STATE" follows the route of the old bulgarian capitals.

Visit to “Ňombul mosque”.

Day 3

Visit to the Museum Of The Horse and observation of elite breeds of horses, pigs, sheeps, cows and water

buffalos in State Breeding Complex “Kabiuk”.

(The legend claim that near this site was the bivouac of the founder of Bulgaria state more than 1300 years ago, here is also his tomb-barrow).

Visit to National Archaeological Museum “Preslav” - second Bulgarian capitol.

Visit to Ethnographical Museum “Jordanov's House” - 1883 ă., degustation of home-made cheese pastry and yellow lemonade (19 century recipe)
