“FOUNDATION OF BULGARIA”

Bulgaria was founded by khan Asparoukh in 681 in the city of Pliska - the first bulgarian capital. 200 years later Veliki Preslav (Great Preslav) became the second capital of the Bulgarian Kingdom. And in 1185 tsar Ivan Assen II choose the city of Turnovo to become the capital of Bulgaria. This period is known in the history as the foundation of the Bulgarian state and the itinerary of our programme "FOUNDATION OF THE BULGARIAN STATE" follows the route of the old bulgarian capitals.

Day 1

Reception at Sofia airport, the reception may also be at Istanbul airport.

Day 2

Lunch in “Arbanasi”.

Visit to the most luxury communist residence in Bulgaria.

Accommodation in hotel 3* in Shumen town.

Visit to “Тombul mosque”.

(“Тombul mosque” is the biggest mosque in Bulgaria).

Dinner with degustation of wine and folklore.

Day 3

Breakfast.

Visit to the Museum Of The Horse and observation of elite breeds of horses, pigs, sheeps, cows and water

buffalos in State Breeding Complex “Kabiuk”.

(The legend claim that near this site was the bivouac of the founder of Bulgaria state more than 1300 years ago, here is also his tomb-barrow).

Visit to National Archaeological Museum “Pliska” - first Bulgarian capitol – first Bulgarian capitol.

Lunch.

Visit to national historical and archaeological preserve “Madara Rider”.

(“Madara Rider” is the most important rock relief of world importance in Europe, included in UNESCO's World Heritage List)

Visit to complex “Founders of the Bulgarian State”.

(Complex “Founders of the Bulgarian State” is build for 1300 anniversary of founding of Bulgarian State and it is unique monument in world)

Day 4

Breakfast.

Visit to National Archaeological Museum “Preslav” - second Bulgarian capitol.

Lunch.

Visit to Ethnographical Museum “Jordanov's House” - 1883 г., degustation of home-made cheese pastry and yellow lemonade (19 century recipe)

(“Jordanov's House”, a house of wealthy villager, it is the unique museum in Bulgaria with recovered 19 century context)

Dinner.

Day 5

Breakfast.

Accomodation in hotel 3* in Veliko Tarnovo town.

Lunch.

Visit to “Sarafkina house”.

(“Saravkina's House” is 5 store wooden house, representing way of living in Bulgarian town in 18 century)

Visit at great hill “Tzarevetz” - the tird Bulgarian capitol.
